Recording Secretary
Responsibilities:
Record the roll and the minutes at the Board of Directors meetings, occurring monthly or quarterly.
Submitting the minutes to the Board for review following the meeting.
Ensure accurate contact information for all board members and YYO staff.
Assist with sending and tracking correspondence during our Giving Tuesday/Year-End Giving campaign (November-December), and our Spring Letter solicitations (March-April).
Hours and location:
Most work can be done remotely.
Occasionally, the Secretary will be asked to attend meetings or in-person events at the following locations:
Back Office Studio (BOS), 13 N. Washington Street. Ypsilanti, Michigan 48197
Ypsilanti Community Middle School, 510 Emerick Street. Ypsilanti, Michigan 48198
Skills and abilities needed:
Clear written and verbal communication
Attention to detail and deadlines
Interpersonal skills
Confidentiality
Knowledge of the inner workings of YYO programs and structure
Familiarity with word processing and spreadsheet software (Google Docs/Word, Google Sheets/Excel), Google Drive, Google Forms.

After a trial period, the Board may extend the invitation to assume the role of Board Secretary, with all assigned rights and privileges.
Saturday Morning Volunteer
Responsibilities:
Assist YYO staff with setting up/taking down the learning environments/classroom spaces before/after YYO classes and rehearsals.
Monitoring the entrances, hallways, and parking lot to ensure that students and their families enter/exit the building safely.
Notify the Director of Operations of any unsafe conditions (i.e. wet floor) or areas that require the building custodian (locked door, etc.).
Direct students to the appropriate classroom locations and nearest restrooms.
Direct questions to the appropriate YYO staff member.
Skills and abilities needed:
Attention to detail.
Familiarity with YYO programs and YYO personnel a plus (willing to train).
Some lifting/carrying of music stands, chairs, and equipment involved.
Effective communication skills.
Hours and location:
2-3 hours per Saturday, when YYO is in session.

YYO classes occur between 8:30 am-11:30 am. Volunteers are asked to sign up for a minimum of one shift on the Signup Genius Form.
